We are now 9 days into the New Year, and I’m already behind on this post. My wife and I have always viewed New Year resolutions, more as general goals to pursue, rather than clear, concrete objectives.
This year, I thought I’d start writing yet again, as this blog served a useful outlet for thoughts on politics that are longer and more technical than anything I want to put on other platforms. Despite the age of the medium, the blog still fits a valuable role. Given the fascinating year of elections, leadership races, and general political mayhem, it seems as though this would be a great year to re-start writing. Besides, we need a fair and balanced alternative to fellows like Daveberta (a great blog if you haven’t come across it).
That being said, I thought it best to make a list of resolutions public, to ensure that extra bit of accountability over the next 12 months. Below are my goals for the 2016 – and this post offers a useful first step on the first.
- 30 (6) blog posts – including this one
- 30 (19) books read
- 3 (2) new projects (non political)
- 3 (2) new projects (political)
- 300 (182) words of french.
I’m hopeful on most, and confident on some. Despite the general malaise in Alberta, I’m optimistic about the New Year. Time to create a great year.
